My name is Daniel Scott, and I am an artist. Well… I’d like to be, anyway. I’m currently a film major with a minor in visual communication. I am a rising junior at Loyola University Chicago. Originally from a suburb of a suburb of Milwaukee, I have found the city much more lively and exciting than anything I have ever known. This is doubly true for my experience abroad in Rome this summer. Being in Italy is an interesting intersection of a variety of my personal interests: fine food and drink, culture, new places, and new experiences that I can document in a visual way. As of writing this entry, I have been in Italy for 6 weeks already, having done Session I of the JFRC Summer 2019 program. I feel like I have already learned a lot about Italian culture while being here. I come into the Food & Wine class already knowing some about fine dining, because I worked for years in the dining areas of two country clubs. I have always been interested in the history and variation of different foods and drinks, and this program has only made me more excited to learn. I greatly look forward to the next few weeks and I know it will be an experience I won’t ever forget.
